An exciting end of year celebration for our adult members!

Each class will perform a short dance, and all classes within the same style will work together around a common theme or element to create a larger ‘section’ of the show (e.g. the ballet section).

All participants are invited to bring a +1 so you can share with them what you’ve been learning this year.

Named ‘Homegrown’ because we are hosting the event at home (DH Studios).

REGISTRATION

• $20 per performer (includes your +1 guest).

• Fee goes toward council permit for this event, staffing costs and chair hire.

• You must secure your spot on StudioLab HERE.

DETAILS

• 12.00pm - Dance Habit doors open

• 1.00pm - ACT 1 (approx. 50 mins)
  STUDIO 1 - Acro, Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz

• 2.15pm - ACT 2 (approx. 75 mins)
  STUDIO 3 - Golden Groovers, Heels, Broadway, Tap, Hip Hop

• 4.00pm - Dance Habit doors close at 4pm

WHAT TO WEAR & WHAT TO BRING

• No costumes will be needed for this performance, however, class groups may decide on a common colour or item to unify the group. Appropriate footwear for all dance styles is a must.

• In the spirit of community, we kindly ask that you bring one food item to help us build a communal grazing table for everyone to share. This is an alcohol free event.

SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE

• All participants can bring a +1 and there will be both seated and standing space for audience members.

• Students are welcome to attend the whole event or just some sections. We invite you to watch others when you are not dancing or preparing for a dance.

• All seated attendees must remain in their seats for the whole genre section (e.g. all four ballet dances).

• Students have the option to participate in all or just some of your classes.

• Please assist us in making this event enjoyable for all. It will be a first for many, so we’d love your help to ensure everyone feels supported – loud applause for the win!

• We will not be monitoring the use of cameras at this event so please take this into consideration before attending. That said, we encourage everyone to avoid watching through a lens and choose to be in the moment instead.

A BONUS!

Homegrown is our final event of the year, where we’ll present a Dancer of the Year award in each genre. These awards will be celebrated at the event itself, so this year we’ll be selecting from dancers who are part of the showcase. If you can’t join us this time, please know your hard work and achievements are still very much valued and celebrated by the DH community!

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT…

• This event is designed to replace what was previously known as our Midyear Performance.

• While we will learn choreography in lessons, it will not become a core focus like it does during our concert season.

• Homegrown is intentionally low-key and whilst we hope you can all join us, we appreciate that some may not be available.

• If you cannot make it, we will miss you, but encourage you to attend your classes as normal as we continue working on technique alongside the choreography that will be shared at Homegrown.
